So yesterday Nadine had a few first times experiences; first she went under general anesthesia which often leads to many other first time experiences such as brutal honesty with anyone and everyone (e.g. medical staff, total strangers, those you love, ect.) She also had her first surgery when she had her tonsils and adenoids removed.
I supposed that I am blogging because it is one of the few times in my life that someone close to me has had surgery. When I was quite young my mother had her gall bladder removed (on or near my birthday of all days) but I was too young to really understand. Later, as a teenager, my father had knee surgery but I was in an Outdoor Survival class and spent the night of his surgery in a shelter that my "bunkmate" and I made of sticks and leaves.
This experience was different, I was in all of the details of her surgery up until it actually happened. All of this helped me realize just how fragile our lives are. Without the proper treatment a speedy recovery from a procedure as simple as this would be difficult at best. Modern medicine helps prevent mind-numbing pain and drastically reduces the chances of infection. All in all I am grateful that my wife was able to have this procedure as I am sure it will improve her day to day health but more importantly I am grateful to be the man in her life who has had the opportunity to take care of her the last 36 hours.
In case you care, my first time is this blog which may be considered a modern miracle of sorts. Until now I was convinced that I didn't have anything to share that anyone else would care about.

Poor Nadine and poor Scott. It is hard to see the ones you love feeling so yucky. I am sure that Nadine appreciates all your support. You are such a sweetie. How is Nadine doing btw? Is she okay okay?
Oh Scotty, you are so good to me. Thank you for buying me the stuffed lambie to cuddle and setting alarms so you could get up to bring me pain meds during the night. Thank you for being my short-order chef and for being at arms length all week long whenever I needed you. I am the luckiest wifey ever.
Nadine I hope you have a fast recovery! You are in good hands though. Hey girl, I tagged you on my blog!
Nadine, I'm curious to know what you said that was so brutally honest! I hope you continue to regain your health, and that you can get back to "life as normal." We're praying for you.
Thanks, Scott, for being such a great care giver. I wish I could have come to help.
Hope you get better soon. Sounds like you have a LOVING husband to take real good care of you.
