My beautiful, charming Grandma Maughan passed away on February 13, 2009. She was 86 years old and is survived by my Grandpa Maughan, her husband of 65 years. Scott and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend her funeral in Palos Verdes, California on Wednesday, February 18th and her graveside memorial service in Logan, Utah on Saturday, February 21st. I also got to help create a slide show for a digital picture frame for the funeral, and it was wonderful to be able to look at all those pictures and remember my Grandma's life. There were SO MANY pictures where she was sitting on the ground or the floor with us! It seems like she was always playing with the children. She loved to play with our toys with us and take us to Disneyland. She taught me how to body surf in the Pacific Ocean when she was in her 70s and she was better than most of the teenagers! I will miss her so much, but I know I will see her again and that she is with her siblings and her parents now. She can run and play as much as she wants without being slowed down by old age anymore!
My mom encouraged us to play at the beach while we were there (just a few miles from my Grandma & Grandpa's home - and a gorgeous view from their living room window). She insisted that it is what Grandma would have wanted! So we played hard and had fun. And no, the water was NOT warm!

Grandma, we miss you and love you very much!

Thank you for your sweet tribute to my Mom. I'm so glad you came to the graveside service as well. Hopefully I will be able to blog about her too--maybe within the next week. I loved your comments about her teaching you to bodysurf. She was an amazing woman!
